Did you make it to the Thorpe Plaza Pre-Tax Day Shindig over the past weekend? It was fabulous! I told you it would be worth it, and did we ever have a great time. Sammy Leverone provided the entertainment on Sunday, along with her daughter and husband. Sammy and her daughter’s voices were in delightful harmony. Sammy played the guitar and her daughter played both the mandolin and the fiddle. I could have sat in the sunshine and listened for hours. Oh, right, but I had to work….
People relaxed, ate great food, observed artists at work, tasted fantastic olive oils and balsamics, and listened to the terrific music, provided by Blue Suede Shoes on Saturday and Sammy Leverone on Sunday. When the folks at Marisolio decide to throw a party, we do it right. Our neighbors around Thorpe Plaza all participated, and it was a perfect community event.
I am still dreaming about those Honey Mustard Chicken Wings. If you would like to recreate them at home, here is the recipe:
Honey Mustard Wings
2 1/2 lbs chicken wings, separated and seasoned with salt and pepper
3 T. honey
2 T. Dijon mustard
2 T. Spicy mustard
2 tsp. Spicy Serrano Honey Vinegar
Bake chicken wings on a foil lined roasting pan at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. Turn wings over with tongs, and return to oven to bake for 20-25 more minutes. Remove from oven. Mix honey, mustards, and vinegar together and slather over baked chicken wings. Let rest 5 minutes and mix again with your hands, to coat well. Serve immediately, or refrigerate and reheat later.
